Research conducted by academic research staff at the Centre for Language Studies could be self-funded or supported by Unimas fundamental grants or external grants. Research groups with grants at times engage research assistants to help in the data collection and data analysis. Interested postgraduate candidates may work as a research assistant in the beginning to gain familiarity with the research area and data collection techniques, and to find out whether they would like to pursue a postgraduate degree in the field. However, in most cases postgraduate candidates submit a research proposal on a topic they intend to investigate and their application is considered based on its merit as a postgraduate research proposal and the availability of research expertise on the proposed area. Full-time candidates can apply for the Unimas scholarship to support postgraduate studies at both Masters and Ph.D levels.

To find out about the research and the expertise of academics at the Centre for Language Studies, go to Academic Research Staff and their Research Expertise. For information on the application form and fees, go to Centre for Graduate Studies.
